My story began over 13 years ago; I led a Microgeneration Certification Scheme accredited Air Source Heat Pump installation business which operated primarily in the residential “New Build” and “Retro fit” sector; I designed and installed Air Source Heat Pumps all over the UK. Within that time, I worked with the vast majority of major manufacturers of Air Source Heat Pumps, designing and installing all types of heat pump systems to suit an array of buildings and properties.
I also witnessed the inception of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) in the Air Source Heat Pump industry, along with numerous government incentives to try and convert people into using green energy.
I came off the "tools" early in 2017; since then I've focused my knowledge and experience into system design for installers and helping property owners reduce their Carbon Footprint and reduce their heating costs.
MCS is a standards organisation - it is brilliant for regulation and means there is a benchmark for the standard of design, installation and products.
However, due to the complexity of MCS requirements: design, paperwork, heat loss calculations and registrations, these new standards put a lot of excellent Heating Engineers / Plumbers off the idea of renewables. Many reverted back to installing fossil fuel systems and chose to stick to what they knew, missing an incredible opportunity in an industry that is now flourishing and cannot be ignored.
SiZe Matters is operated by a fully qualified Heating Engineer with over a decade of experience designing and installing Air Source Heat Pump systems into new and difficult to heat properties.
